Nothing like teaching the little ones how to be stupid.

And the news anchor is exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer describing the trespassers climbing over the intemodal cars as climbing over the "locomotive".

Instead of the statement it issued, mabey CSX should be looking into not blocking the crossing in the first place.

Sometimes blocking a crossing is unavoidable for various and sundry reasons.

Well, first of all, the people should not have climbed over the train car, and to do so with little kids certainly may not be acting in their best interest.

But, I wonder how long had the crossing been blocked for, and how long was it blocked after the people crossed over the train car, and just how often does a train block the crossing to begin with. Temperature around 40F that day, how long does CSX think people should have to stand and wait in the cold?

Technically, Darwin awards are only ever given posthumously.  It's not possible to get a Darwin award for almost dying of stupidity.

Most eastbounds block the crossing for 30 minutes or so as 58th street to RG tower is only about a mile.

Does make any difference what the temperature is, how long the train has been there, how important the people's destination is, how often trains block the crossing or any other whiney butt reason. The parents are at least up for MORON awards and obviously have not got the sense God gave a small puppy.
