Eastern Railroad Discussion > Kokomo, IN Saturday NightDate: 12/08/18 19:40 Kokomo, IN Saturday Night Author: JETRR A brisk 24 degrees F this evening but well worth dusting off the speedlights for a little fun with the Indiana Transportation Museum's Polar Bear Express Santa train.

Date: 12/09/18 14:19 Re: Kokomo, IN Saturday Night Author: wabash2800 Very nice and also consideirng I lived there for about three years (worked for Penn Dixie Steel). Colder weather actually makes sharper photos. I wouldn't be surprised if the crossing never had a tower but don't know for sure. That's a "target" signal, not used on a tower. It's used at slow speed crossings and controlled by the trainmen.

The Water Tower pic really pops. Brings back old memories of the Nickel Plate, which also went through Kokomo. It seems to be true, that cold weather does add a certain "sharpness" to photographic images. Sure does here. ------------------------------------------------------- > Both lines here were NKP. > > Victor A. Baird > http://www.erstwhilepublications.com I believe the line on which the train sits is ex PRR. Date: 12/12/18 06:26 Re: Kokomo, IN Saturday Night Author: scraphauler Line the 101 is on is ex PRR, former CIncinnati-Chicago line. Line it is crossing is ex NKP - Indianapolis-Michigan City line. Couple more diamonds in town - behind 101 is where PRR cross NKP Cloverleaf from Marion IN to Frankfort IN. Down from caboose on connection track is diamond of NKP IMC and NKP Cloverleaf. This is all on near northside of downtown. On south side of tow, the old Kokomo Belt crosses the NKP IMC. The IMC headed north end several blocks north of diamond. Cloverleaf to Frankfort is gone to the west from a block or two west of IMC diamond. Everything else in but a lot out of service. Only thing used is Cloverleaf from Marion to connection to old PRR and old PRR from Omni Source scrap yard, across Cloverleaf, and onto Logansport. EVERYTHING is now operated by G&W (TP&W and CERA)
