It has been a while since I was down in Belle Mead (NJ) to see how the former Reading Depot was holding up. Tuesday afternoon I took a hike to see for myself and judging by the looks of the building I would say its days are numbered. Sad because it is registered as a historical site. From my vantage point I noticed that it looks as though the roof is starting to sag in two places. The dormer facing the tracks is also leaning which has me wondering how much longer it will be before the roof caves in? Sad to see some of the graffiti sprayed on to both the depot and second building just out of view in this frame. Another new addition I noticed was that three foot high embankment of ballast running adjacent to the rails, perhaps to act as a deterrent to ATVer's? CSX 3174 and CSX 3401 is seen leading a general merchandise freight, symbol unknown, past the depot.
