Switcher Saturday - ABC 1501
Author: refarkas

It is January 5, 2019 in Akron, Ohio, and Akron Barberton Cluster 1501 has left its own tracks and is eastbound on CSX as CSX train Z640. She will leave CSX near the old Firestone plant and switch some industries there.

Amazing how small the switcher looks behind those covered hoppers. But how powerful that switcher is!!

I don't know the gearing or ballasting properties of #1501 but in it's previous I.U.Ry. usage this unit moved cars in and out
of the National Starch Co., mostly hoppers of grains and corn inbound.

The National Starch lead goes downgrade to the plant so #1501 would've had quite a pull moving the milled products outbound.
