Eastern Railroad Discussion > NS train 776 rerouted?Date: 01/16/19 11:06 NS train 776 rerouted? Author: onblock For several years now, some power plants in North Carolina have been getting coal from southwestern Pennsylvania. The empties have been routed northward via Hagerstown and Harrisburg, but the loads have been routed westward then southward from the coalfields. Today, however, there was a Harrisburg bound 776, complete with a 2-unit DPU, eastbound on the Pittsburgh Line. There was another 700 series coal train eastbound Tuesday night, but I can not say which direction it took when it left Harrisburg. Can anyone say if these trains will now be routed via Harrisburg on a regular basis? Also, a couple of weeks ago, there was a 799 westbound on the Lurgan. Does anyone know its origin and destination and does it have a northbound counterpart? Thanks to anyone with answers.

Have never seen that on the Lurgan Branch and that is a long time. Still remember N&W unit coal trains with Penn Central SD45’s but they were northbound. 776 was southbound today. (West).

Gary Posted from iPhone Date: 01/17/19 04:38 Re: NS train 776 rerouted? Author: DJ-12 So, are these trains running the length of the H Line to Roanoke? That would be some great news for business levels on this line.
