There were some interesting old hopper cars on that one. Looks like it could have been taken 20 years ago.

The Mosaic potash and phosphate fleet is definitely a colorful one. Majority of the fleet is leased cars with many different histories. However, new, special purpose potash hoppers are slowly making inroads into service and are displacing many of the older hoppers to phoshpate service.

CSX is still running quite a few hoppers in phosphate service still in Family Lines and Seaboard System paint.  I recently caught one that still had L&N reporting marks.  There are also a few former RF&P hoppers in original paint (CSX reporting marks).  I caught one just the other day.  Some of the RF&P cars have been repainted in tan paint and can be easily spotted because they retain the metal plate that used to say Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac and now have the CSX logo on them.
