Back along NS's Washington Secondary
Author: Pattenburg

With some morning sun it on this Wednesday it was time to head back out along NS's Washington Secondary in the Rockport (NJ) area to photograph NS H02 and hopefully find some new photo locations in the process. On both counts I would consider this morning successful.
Image 1: finds H02 approaching the Airport Road grade crossing (WASS MP 59) with its cut of seventeen cars. Considering that this line is mostly shrouded by trees, finding this wide open area was a revelation for me! Once again NS 5304 is the leader as it was on Monday.
Image 2: At Borelis, NS H02 stopped to pick up three covered hoppers. NS 5304 would uncoupled from its train and run around the empties and then push them out to couple up to the rest of its train. The Borelis track mobile is placing its car with the other two hoppers off to the left. When that is done all three cars will be pushed to the rest of H02's consist.
Image 3: Seen here at the Blau Road grade crossing and with its train assembled and ready to go H02 will head now east to Washington with twenty cars.

Cool documentation of an operation that will transfer to the new short line Dover & Delaware ?? I think. Supposed to happen sometime this month.

DDR stated it expects to begin operations “…after the approval of the related petition for continuance in control, more than thirty days after the filing of this Notice.” to the Surface transportation Board. Their notice was filed December 4, 2018.

Great catch again Tom, it looks like a very scenic area.

There was a chicken raising operation in the Broadway - Asbury area that got in feed by rail - is it still there?

Also, are there any customers left on the stub of the original "Old Road" in Washington?

You might be thinking of ISE America? There is evidence of a siding but it looks as though it has not seen any service in a long time.

The only customer listed on DDR's STB filing was BASF Corporation in Washington.

There was a shipper in Rockport which received tank cars. Maybe Linde?

Has that moved out?

Can't recall seeing a Linde facility. Perhaps you are thinking of Borealis?
