"Today's Gift..."
Author: aussiehinz

... courtesy of Canadian National. Former Grand Trunk Western and Bessemer & Lake Erie SD's team up on a local returning to Glenn Yard in Chicago's Southwest.  At 16th Street, 18th Street (how 'bout that great wave!), and approaching Corwith.

Cheers,

Yes, fantastic!

I couldn't process in my mind that these were not 30 year old photos!

You managed to get three very nice photos that are really interesting.
Most especially like Photo 2; it has everything one could want.

Hell of a gift!  And running in great light is the big bow on that gift.

Great images.  How did you get from 16th to 18th street that fast?  Did you fly or did the train stop?  Gerry

LOL, I thought the same thing.  I asume they stopped at the crossing  and were just starting out, it would be tight. Maybe driving to 18th and parking in the bike lane.

Very nice trio of photos. Nice to still see a few locomotives in B&LE paint. Congrats on IOTD.

Was that the Bessemer & Lake Erie's standard paint scheme or is that an ex-Milwaukee unit that was just patched.  I know nothing about B&LE.

The GTW 5936 is the last GTW SD-40 still painted Burdakin Blue.

And it has two different style fonts on the number boards.

This photograph is from July 13, 2015, in the CN Yard, Battle Creek, Michigan, before they added the yellow reflective tape down the sides of it.

Not an ex Milwaukee unit. That was Bessemer & Lake Erie's standard paint scheme. Nice Image Of The Day. Congrats.

Ha, I too wondered this. In my experience the only way to get those two shots would be by biking, and fast.

Great shots!
