To All:

How much traffic operates on the CSX line between Toledo and Cincinatti? Is this a busy line?  All comments appreciated.

It's busy, but I would guess it's not as busy as it was five years ago or so. I see several trains are gone though including Q500 and Q366. Toledo Sub is busier south of Sidney where part of the stuff splits off onto the Bee Line to go East. There had been rumor of redoubletracking parts of the Toledo Sub south of Sidney but that was before EHH. North of Deshler not so busy.

Cincinnati to Sidney would see the heaviest traffic volume. Sidney to Deshler would be second. Deshler north is the least.

Q500 and Q501 have turned into Q350 and Q351

CSX also is running the Toledo Dock-Middletown taconite trains under a local symbol. I believe the trains run as turns out of Lima in either direction. The ore trains, Q508/Q509, and Q503 are regulars on the Deshler-Toledo section; I don't know if anything else is as this point.

Trains have gotten longer, train counts have gotten smaller...

If anyone thinks this is busy line, they haven't been reading anything TAW has had to say about capacity and utilization. And CSX's yards Toledo yards (in Wood County) have been ghost towns for some years before before EHH's PSR. Those yards haven't been empty because PSR all of a sudden made the traffic flow better, but because CSX isn't moving much traffic through them. The only time I've seen a lot of cars in one of the yards in the last few years (either Stanley or Walbridge, I don't remember) was because it was chock full of empty autoracks that had to be stored somewhere. I'm sure CSX was paid well by TTX for storing the emtpy cars.
