CSXT Monon and NS Questions
Author: PRR_4859

Good Evening:

How many trains per day use the former Monon (now CSXT)?

Also, how many Norfolk Southern trains per day go through Lafayette In?

Thank you in advance.

Monon:  One Amtrak each direction.  One Avon (Indy)-Barr (Chicago) train each direction.  A turn from Indy to Lafayette Yard, so two movements seen from the Lafayette depot or ped overpass at Laf Jct.  A few locals from Lafayete headed either north and south.  An NS steel train uses the Monon from Crawfordsville to Laf Jct and can be seen on NS tracks past the depot.  Occasional extra movements.  Overall, maybe 10-12 trains on an average day.

NS: PSR has reduced the number slightly.  Maybe 25-30 trains/day, most are ex-Wabash, a few are ex-NKP to/from Frankfort and points east.
