DC to AC rebuild program, 4 GEs and 1 EMD.
Wouldn't mind the whole NS fleet done up like this.
Note the Juniata Shop's new turntable.

Man, I hope Juniata and their programs won't be a victim of NS's PSR programs like so many of the other railroads that have gone this route has done to their shops and yards.  They seem to do good, quality work.

What a great shot. I'm glad someone took the time to get this "Class Picture." The new table looks great too !

A unique view and a cool shot.  Been there a number of times looking through the fence in back of the turntable.  Never realized the back yards of those houses were so tiny.

Edit addition.  Just looked at Chris's sight.  I've always been a slight bit envious of Casey Thomason's job.  What a great way to spend a day at work!

Yeah but what a view out the bedroom window if you are a railfan!

In fact, NS is ramping up its DC-to-AC conversion program because it fits in with PSR. More bang for your buck when you can produce a like-new locomotive for half the cost of buying new.

Now if only I could find someone to do that for my car...

I used to do photos for NS years ago and I can tell you it sounds like an awesome job and at times it is. The things I got to do and places I saw most railfans don’t
On the other hand when they want a certain shot and it has to be perfect it takes the fun out of the hobby. Also the traveling can get old really quick.
There are pluses and minuses to every job

Why does the 8520 not have the typical ac inverter cabinet ?

The 8520 is an AC44C6CF, rebuilt by NS using CAF USA designed electrical components, new electrical and inverter cabinet, and a TMV control system.

AC44C6M = AC means AC Traction motors, 44 is 4,400 horsepower, C is 3 axle trucks, 6 means 6 powered axles, and M means Modified.

AC44C6CF = AC means AC Traction motors, 44 is 4,400 horsepower, C is 3 axle trucks, 6 means 6 powered axles and CF denotes its CAF USA rebuild design specs.
