Eastern Railroad Discussion > CSX relocates Selkirk humpDate: 02/12/19 06:11 CSX relocates Selkirk hump Author: march_hare Just returned home to find in the new issue of TRAINS (March 2019 p34) that CSX has relocated the hump yard at Selkirk to central Ohio. Somehow, this has not been reported yet on the web, so score one for printed media.
Is this Precision Railroading at work, or Precision Journalism? Date: 02/12/19 06:50 Re: CSX relocates Selkirk hump Author: march_hare Second time in recent memory that they’ve put out a poorly fact checked graphic. Their article on the Freedom Train had its routing from Albany into Vermont on the wrong route.

Yesterday I was actually considering resubscribing to Trains after a lapse of many years. Maybe not! Date: 02/12/19 09:35 Re: CSX relocates Selkirk hump Author: MEKoch The new hump is in Sterling, OH, near RU Tower, and right behind Bradley's Restaurant. Given the amount of rail traffic coming off the Cleveland Sub and CL&W Subs, it seemed like a good location......

Date: 02/12/19 11:51 Re: CSX relocates Selkirk hump Author: Gonut1 You can dissassemble a hump into tiny pieces then transport it by dump truck or hopper car to the new site.

The entire thread is obtusely describing a map error in TRAINS magazine. There is no new yard. Date: 02/12/19 16:25 Re: CSX relocates Selkirk hump Author: lx15841 I agree that this is not about mistaken facts, but about a map positioning error. Yard number 21, Selkirk, should have been positioned in eastern NY. Yard number 24, Moorman, should have been positioned where the number 21 was located on the map.in north central OH.

It's still winter, gotta have some fun with something.... Date: 02/13/19 05:04 Re: CSX relocates Selkirk hump Author: PlyWoody In a recent issue of Trains Magazine they had a article by Jerry Day that was titled that the Southern Pacific #18 was getting its exercise in NM. Some how he relocated the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge RR over 30 miles south into New Mexico.
Why can't TrainOrder put every railroad name into their spell checker so Durango for example, is not flagged? Date: 02/13/19 05:54 Re: CSX relocates Selkirk hump Author: Lackawanna484 spwolfmtn Wrote:
