Grafton & Upton Expansion news
Author: JPB

2018 was a busy year for Grafton and Upton capital investment and 2019 continues that trend:
1. The long anticipated LPG transload facility in North Grafton opened in spring 2018 (and became quite busy)
2. G&U acquired 3 more MP15AC engines from CSX giving them 4 active MP15ACs (the OOS F7 and a couple of Geeps still sit on the property
3. An ex-RBB&B sleeper was acquired
4. A couple new yard tracks were added at N Grafton in August (photo 1)
5. An engine house is under construction at N Grafton this winter (photo 2)
6. Work to complete the relaying of ripped up track between current end of track at Hopedale to Milford connection with MBTA's little used Milford branch was advanced this winter with moving of what should be the G&U connection turnout off the MBTA line (the old location of this turnout was where the small oval is) (photo 3)

7. New crossing crossbucks have been installed where G&U had installed isolated track sections across streets in Milford about 5 years ago as excavation work and stockpiling of ties goes on at Milford (photo 4)
8. Port-A-Potty has been installed at Milford suggesting serious construction is about to happen near the Milford branch connection - looks like grading of RoW for perhaps 2 tracks? The railfan buzz is that G&U is to takeover switching duties on the Milford branch from CSX for the 2 remaining customers: Garelick Farms in Franklin and BlueLinx Building Matterials in Bellingham (photo 5)
9. The long derelict Under Grade Bridge over Hopedale St in Hopedale has been rejuvnenated with some new steel trusses and has had crossties installed on the deck as of 2/15/19. (photo 6).
