Nashville TN Yards project
Author: Lackawanna484

Amazon plans to move some jobs planned for Queens NY into the Nashville Yards development.

What's the history on that former CSX (?) Yard?

Looks like a number of familiar names are in this, including Anschutz.

That is the CSX ex-L&N Kayne Ave yard which is beside the former Nashville Union Station.  The larger CSX yard is Radnor yard which is about 7 miles south of there.

Thanks. This new yard project looks like it will create a lot of jobs.

Does CSXT still change crews at Kayne Ave?

Thank you in advance.

Yes, crew changes still take place at the yard tower just next to the Demonbreun St, which has been closed for some time. There is also a local based there that grabs cars from the remaining yard tracks and works the industries on West End, usually with a Geep slug set or two laying over.

This Nashville Yards project has nothing to do with railroad property. It was Lifeway Christian Bookstore headquarters which was along side the CSX tracks downtown, but has nothing to do with any railroad property.

Thanks, the article and sketch suggested there would be several buildings and a linear park.

Not true?

Look closely, you see the existing CSX tracks running along side the property at the bottom of the sketch and diagram. At one time many years ago the area I believe was railroad property with tracks into Union Station, but Lifeway built a headquarters and large warehouse which covered the property for more than one city block along the tracks across the street from Union Station. Yery large piece of property for a downtown area. Property had nothing to do with railroad operations for many years.
