45 Minutes after work - 10 April 2019
Author: DTWilson

Done with work and heading out for some dinner we hear E780-10 crossing the Defect Detector at 21st. Bridge Rd... no time to catch him in Keyser, WV so we head west to Bloomingotn, MD.

1) E780-10 westbound on 17-Mile Grade at Bloomington, MD with a 130 car empty hopper train for Grafton, WV

2) On our way to Bloomington we heard the B770-10 getting ready to leave the yard a Beryl, WV to work the Verso Paper Mill next door at Luke, MD. B770-10 works track "mill1" while their "shoving platform" holds down the main at Luke, MD.

3) B770-10 shoving back to their yard pass under under the towering Power Center for the paper mill at Luke.

... More to Follow ...

1) B772-10 returning eastbound from Grafton, WV crossing the Potomac River between Bloomington, MD and Beryl, WV.

2) A very rare type of car on the Mountain Sub.... an empty well car set .... B772-10 eastbound.

Three (3) trains in 45 minutes .. all locations less than a mile of each other....

Thank You for looking...

Once again Tim, you have hit a home run with these photos especially with the CSX Caboose (shoving platform) that still looks oh so good.  Thanks for the photos and stories as always, and for keeping all of us well informed with railroading on the old B&O and the Western Maryland.

Agree with ClubCar, always look forward to your posts and updates on the Mountain Sub.  That shot of the slug set by the power house really gives you a sense of scale. That is one huge structure ! Thanks again.

What is the load in the gondola immediately in front of the empty well car?

B770-10 "under" the power plant and stacks is a fresh perspective. Nice!
One of the few coal-fired plants left in Maryland.
