NS Spray Train question
Author: Pattenburg

Saturday afternoon along the Lehigh Line an NS spray train was at work spraying as seen in this photo taken by a friend. The location was in Hillsborough (NJ) near LEHL MP 40 near the Valley Road grade crossing and CP SULLY.  My question is when they come to a location that has a siding, as there is here with the Royce Running track, does the siding eventually get sprayed on the return trip or is it just the main line that is sprayed? Thanks for any information.

I can’t answer your question Tom, but I can say a 92W just went west through Walnuttown on the Reading line at about 11:45 with the same trainset you photographed spraying on Main 1. Power was running long good forward too!

I think the side boom can extend over the siding at the same time as they spray the main.  If not, they could back thru the siding and spray it then.

Anybody know what chemical(s) they use for weed abatement?
