Eastern Railroad Discussion > A question about a lift bridge in Miami FL

Hi, when I visited Miami FL in 2012 I took these pics of a couple of lift bridges. One of them is a railroad bridge. Which railroad company uses that bridge? Is it main line or a branch?

That is Florida East Coast's branch into the Port of Miami. There are typically several transfers per day between the port and Hialeah Yard on the west side of Miami. The Port Lead was restored to service only within the past decade after being moribund for years; more recently, most of it also became the mainline for Brightline/Virgin Trains USA into MiamiCentral, but the passenger trains diverge from the route just north of downtown Miami and do not cross this bridge.

There is a site named "Portfever.com" that shows various cruise ship ports live. Click on Port of Miami and you have a good chance of seeing that bridge live. If the bridge is down, a train will be coming shortly.

Cool, I didbn't see the bridge but watched them spin a cruise ship!

I've seen a container train going into the port around 3 PM several times. That's just before rush hour. The long trains foul Biscayne Blvd for a few minutes.
