Amtrak M.O.W?

Hi, Two days ago I was at the Amtrak Lancaster Station and noticed some M.O.W equipment.  I took a closer look and noticed that there were buffers and no knuckle couplings.  There was also what appeared to be an air hose.  I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the coupling system works?  That would be great!  Thanks.

I'm guessing a drawbar would go in the slot between the buffers.
