A little B770 Action near Westernport, MD - 27 June 2019
Author: DTWilson

1) CSX Local B770-27 heads east past the former Western Maryland Railway station in Westernport, MD on their way to work the Verso paper mill warehouse east of town. The tracks in the immediate foreground are the yard track and interchange with the Georges Creek Railway.

2) Sandwiched between the Potomac River and Rt. 135, B770-27 emerges from along the hillside outside Westernport. The area was once a coal load out served by the WM Rwy.

3) B770-27 with 7 boxcars in tow for the Verso warehouse, passes the long closed and leveled Tri-Towns Plaza... now just a parking lot for a local trucking company, only the sign remains.

I really like your first image. That station adds to the scene and also locates it.

I agree with Bob and I always enjoy seeing your photos, especially of the former Western Maryland.  The weeds continue to grow over the unused tracks, a shame.
