Virginia"s appetite for chicken and turkey is satiated by the poultry producers in the Shenandoah valley.  Norfolk Southern keeps three crews busy in the Harrisonburg cluster serving up mid western corn to the large feed mills.  A daily shuttle  (V92) hauls the grain from Shenandoah-Elkton to Harrisonburg where two more crews are kept busy switching the various customers..

4. V92 backing south onto his pick-up.
5. V92 departing eastbound, back to Shenandoah. Like a "well oiled machine".....the crew of V92 made these many moves and were only in Harrisonburg for a nominal forty minutes

Big changes from the 1950's! Then the shortline Chesapeake Western did the honors with a total motive power 
roster of three Baldwin 660 hp switchers!

And there were Southern GPs painted in Cresent green. Did they go all the way to Harrisonburg, or only to Broadway/Timberville.

The Southern GP7s and RS3s would go into Harrisonburg. They had a small yard there.

Where did you take the pictures from?  The JMU parking deck?

yes....JMU parking deck.  mostly empty during the summer.  You can drive right to the top.  V92 does his manuvers right below
