Eastern Railroad Discussion > What about Flint MI

After the Thunder Over Michigan Airshow, I'll have some time before flying home.   One prospect is to go to the Huckleberry RR and photo/ride the narrow guage, depending on which locomoive is running.  
After that what should I think about doing in Flint or vacinity ?  
Local expertize is greatly appreciated.

Lake State Railway runs a daily turn up from Wixom to Flint and back; I'm told it's usually an early-afternoon departure from Flint once they swap trains if it's on time. That's not ideal for light this time of year, of course. The northbound train is supposedly called for 0600 at Wixom Su-Th; extra board crew FrSa may have to taxi down from Flint.

Also, Durand, not far west of Flint is an interesting junction of 2 CN lines, plus regionals GLC and Central Michigan. Worth checking out for the old depot alone.

What was Central Michigan is now part of Huron & Eastern.
