Man climbs Bethlehem's Steel Stacks NS traffic halted?
Author: Pattenburg

When you think you heard it all there is always something new to be learned. While trackside this morning in Hillsborough I was told that NS traffic along the LEHL was being disrupted due to a man climbing up on to Bethlehem's Steelstacks. He climbed up there on Friday evening and remains there twelve hours later according to Easton (PA) newspaper accounts. The newspaper Express Times has a full account of this ongoing incident.

And the loser is getting attention for this. When they get him down they should charge him with everything they can including federal interfering with interstate commerce, but they won’t be will get a psych evaluation and get off. He should also have to pay the city back for expenses but he won’t because I will guess he is broke

Several media outlets don't mention the names of mass shooters, etc anymore.  They don't want to give the coward any more publicity.

Here in south Florida, drive by shootings which injure innocent bystanders will occasionally be described as "the coward who fired ten shots" etc.

Police already stated last night that supposedly no one is going up after him because of the structure being unsafe.  They actually flew a drone up in front of him before the sun went down and took his pic, then posted on WFMZ website asking anyone with info on his identity to call 911.  He has been yelling out "Identification 3, 2, 1"  It was not stated about rail traffic being halted, he is not near the tracks.

The lack of compassion that some have for an obviously mentally ill person, is truly astounding.

He maybe I’ll that is true but odds are in these cases it’s attention seeking. Sorry but that’s just the fact.

He is obviously in great physical shape.....and must have done at least SOME research into "what" to climb....he is in REAL trouble if a thunderstorm approaches...
I'm not sure why the trains are stopped - unless - it is felt the passing trains might induce enough vibration  as a result in the stack....and end the entire affair.  I have no idea how close the stacks are to the tracks.

It was a bad choice of words in the title as it should have said disrupted versus halted. When given the information about this situation this morning, traffic was halted for a while but now trains are passing through this area.

Exactly. What goes up will come down. Get everyone to leave and when he gets hot tired or hungry and the attention is gone he will come down. Of course a good thunderstorm will speed that up

How do? Just wait till he gets tired? I guess you want to put people at risk to go up and get him? Feel free to go volunteer if you want

I refer to the comments that you make about issues that apparently judging by your own comments you know completely clueless about.

I worked in a residential psych hosp for kids for six years very rewarding but 90 % were there for behavior or court evaluations very few truly mentally ill. I also worked in public safety for 30 yrs so yeah I know the topic.

Care to share what makes you an expert on mental health or putting first responders at risk?? Also don’t be afraid to sign your name if your gonna call someone an idiot.

Glad no one was hurt and he is in custody

I've battled anxiety and depression my entire life. So when people make the comments they do about people with mental issues and suicide victims on TO it bothers me because it hits close to home. And losing my wife last year just adds to it.

>>>or putting first responders at risk??

November will mark 35 years in the volunteer fire service.

I didn't realize it wasn't being displayed. Thank you for pointing that out.

Doug

You are right anxiety and depression are true issues and should not be ignored and I’m not saying that was not involved here but with you being in the fire service also know a great amount of these people are attention seeking. I could give an example where a family member died directly related to a case of attention seeking

I’m also very sad to hear about your wife. If I lost mine I don’t know where I would be.

Thank you for your service and I wish you the best.
