What's also timeless is the kids gesturing to blow the horn by pulling the cord. We used to do that as kids to truckers to get them to blow the horn. Of course, a cord was used in the old days, parituculary with the whistle on steam locos. Do any trucks or locomotives even use a pull cord anymore to blow the horn? Note also, you can hear a dog barking at the end of the video.

As you might imagine, I've watched countless trains on Schuyler Street over the years. However, I've never quite heard "squealing (harmonics?)" to that extent before.
