Eastern Railroad Discussion > Pokey trafficDate: 07/19/19 14:39 Pokey traffic Author: mully Anyone know how the current traffic levels are on the Pokey between Williamson and Bluefield?
Does the end of week tend to be busier? How are the mine branches doing including the Tug Fork? Thanks Gary Posted from iPhone Date: 07/19/19 16:05 Re: Pokey traffic Author: florida581 Not including mine runs and helper movements, the Pokey averages 20 or so trains a day on the main.

I think the Coal for the creek is taking a northern route and I thought the Harrisonburg grain was doing the same Gary Posted from iPhone Date: 07/19/19 17:15 Re: Pokey traffic Author: cockaboose It's hard to believe that that massive double track bridge at Kenova WV is only used by 20 trains or less a day. I'm suprised that it hasn't been single tracked like many big bridges that no longer support the traffic that they once did.

Because Crewe is the primary classification yard for eastern Virginia. Crewe builds blocks of cars for Richmond, West Point, Hopewell, Petersburg / Poe, Waverly, Brookneal, and Norfolk. Local trains in and out of Crewe take the blocks to their respective destinations. 227 and 228 now handle the Norfolk manifest traffic between Crewe and Norfolk.
