8/11/19 CN Train L501 with rare BCOL Cowl C40-8M Leader

=17pt8/11/19 18:00 83 degrees at CN Charlotte, Michigan as BCOL Cowl,  C40-8M, 4606 and BNSF 7237 power train 501 over the ChS junction switch and past the GTW depot. This is a rare catch with a cowl leader on a very long interesting train!! Word is cowl units will soon be retired. Full 3:53 train video attached.

Nice it still has a pleasant horn, in BC Rail days it was a nice sounding K5H and now a screaming P5.

Great catch and that train is massive - 136 cars by my count, with almost all of them long. A couple years ago the racks alone would have been the train, and a long one on their own. But instead there are 80-90 racks and 40-50 cars of mixed freight. Seems like it was probably 11,000-12,000 feet.

Thank-you for your kind words and comment. It was one of those lucky moments and since the cowl was leading videoed the entire train.

A P5 horn! Best sounding horn in all of railroading. My opiniom, ofcourse. Always nice to see 86 feet boxcars. That Southern Pacific hi-cube 60' car was real nice to see as was the Conrail 60 footer.

Those horns are a treat!!! Hi Cube cars are always great to see too. Glad you enjoyed it.
