Gilman green grain pup
Author: EL833

I had spent the night in Gilman, Illinois last week on the way out to the IRM event. I had checked out the elevator just south of downtown and noticed this rebuilt Alco. I figured the sun would be just right on it in the morning and it was. Seems it's been there a few years (ns2557 had a post on it 3 years ago) but there was a rather dull basic black Alco switcher the last time I passed through Gilman so this was a nice surprise. Here is CLCX 9698 on 08-07-19, an S2M that started life as a HB&T S2 a "few" years ago, sunning itself .

Nice catch! Definitely, that unit is looking way better than it used to.

Thanks for the update on the Gilman power.  Here is the previous power there, ex-AT&SF S4 #1528, 9/29/79 (bicentennial) and 8/12/15, 40 and 4 years ago.  Gerry
