Eastern Railroad Discussion > In and around Jim Thorpe, PA on July 6thDate: 09/07/19 18:30 In and around Jim Thorpe, PA on July 6th Author: OCtrainguy Finally finishing up my photos from a trip to Jim Thorpe, PA and the Lehigh Gorge. The main reason for the trip was to photo R&N 425 pulling an excursion train from Mountain Top, PA to Jim Thorpe and back. An added bonus was my son and I catching NS 37T in Parryville on our way home. Here are some photos in the Lehigh Gorge and in Jim Thorpe throughout the day.
1. After the morning thunderstorm had passed, fog/steam was still prevelant in the Lehigh Gorge as the first Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway train returns to Jim Thorpe 2. Same train as above, but a going away photo 3. R&N switcher with a tie gondola near the turntable More to follow.. 4. In Jim Thorpe, a pair of SD50s await their next assignment. I am guessing they came in on the Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe freight run 5. The second LGSR train passing the SD50s 6. The R&N also ran a RDC trip from Port Clinton to Jim Thorpe that day. Here is RDC 9168. More to follow... 10. The 3:00 pm LGSR train in the gorge at the NS MP126 signal 11. The excursion train heading back to Mountain Top with the diesel at the end of the train Hope you enjoy the photos. Despite getting soaked in the morning storm, it was an enjoyable day. As an added bonus, we got 17.5 miles on our bicycles that day.
