Amtrak 156 (NS 14) passing the restored station at Montpelier, VA. (9/14/19)  President James Madison's estate is nearby.  He was our 4th President and founding father of our Constitution.

The two doors open up into rooms with displays of how things used to be long ago.

To be technical, since the station was built in 1910, it was a bit before the Madison's time. William du Pont built it during his ownership of the estate. If you're wealthy, you might as well have a private station to avoid the hoi polloi.

I'm a dopey westerner, but is this a special train or a re-route?  Doesn't look like it's running on the normal route.

156 is the regular weekend Northeast Regional from Roanoke via Lynchburg and Charlottesville to New York Penn Station.  Weekday 176 goes to Boston.

Huh?  To be technical, James Madison died in 1836.

I was unaware that James and Dolley had been railroad passengers. ;-)

Montpelier, VA is on US 33 northwest of Richmond.  Montpelier Station is south of Orange, VA on the former Southern main line, between Culpepper and Charlottesville (I think I have that right).

156 is where it belongs.

Yes, the town (village....crossroads) of Montpelier is in Hanover County north of Richmond....I know this because the father of my niece and nephew lives there.

Hey.  No matter where Montpelier is in VA and no matter how Culpepper (sp.) is spelled, it's a great video.
