NS 39G Saturday
Author: chuchubob

39G has been running with five engines since NS' version of PSR has been implemented.  It sometimes leaves Pavonia (Conrail's facility in Camden, NJ) with all five pulling, but two of them becone dpu's as the train moves west to Conway.  Photographed in Camden just south of the 36th Street overpass and the border with Pennsauken.  NJTransit's River LINE DLRV 36th Street Yard is adjacent.
Power is NS 3633, 9286, 9697, 9687, and 7270.  NJT 3520 is wrapped for Rutgers University-Camden School of Business.

That looks like loaded ingot gons up front. Have they done away with the ingot unit trains?

Apparently so.  39G frequently has slab gons first in the consist.

Does this train run with a single crew from Pavonia to Harrisburg, or does a yard crew take it to Abrams for the road crew to meet it?

Thank you in advance.
