Marion Ohio Railfan Society Meeting Notice
Author: exopr

Place: Marion Union Station, Marion, OH
Date: 10/19/19
Time: Approx 7 PM

It's time once again for our annual Tower Night show featuring Mr.Tower himself, Dan Maners! We devote this night to the interlocking towers that could be found trackside at many locations around the country. Many of us have fond memories of the towers we worked in and hung out in before they were wiped out by CTC. Some of us even attended slide and movie shows in the towers when the operator was a railfan! Good thing the Trainmaster didn't walk in! We are indeed a towerful group!

Dan will lead off with a show featuring towers from his vast collection. Following Dan's show we'll have a tower only free-for-all so you can bring a brief show, slide or digital, showing towers.

All railfans are welcome at our meetings. We don't require dues but your donations are greatly appreciated, and put to good use in maintaining AC Tower and the depot so we can continue to enjoy both for many years to come.     See you at Marion depot!

Happened often at "SA" Upper Sandusky Oh. a C&O & PRR tower.  Had shows at "MD" Cabin on the C&O and at a remote place on the PRR called "Hagenbaugh" that used an old small house trailer for a "temporary block station" that was too small for a show inside so we had it outside on the side of the trailer and at a few places around Columbus Oh too. It was a fun time indeed. Of course, pizza was the main food for beans!! The only person/people not invited were the weed weasels! Normally we knew when they were around so we were good at packing up quick to avoid any problems.

I remember the night we filled the Hagenbaugh trailer with railfans, also Maitland tower at Springfield,   I wonder what the train crews thought when they saw all those cars there!
