Mertztown and NS H47 shifting the Atlas plant.
Author: jim6300loco

Today I was out chasing trains with my one son Andy... you guys remember "Beer Train". Anyway I was visiting my former employer Atlas Minerals & Chemicals who use to own Mertztown Station If you all remember, I use to be in charge of all transportation needs for the Atlas and I also use to keep an eye on the station.. The H47 showed up With a car load of Asphalt so I took a few picturees.
They had a GP38-2 on the headend and a GP38-3 on the hind end. (first time i ever saw a GP38-3 Must be a rebuild of some sort). Anyway here are a few pictures.
pic 1 H47 arrives Mertztown
Pic 2 H47 shoving a Asphalt car into the Atlas plant.
Pic 3 H47 Leaving the Atlas by Mertztown Station.

The Station will be re located once the Longswamp Township historical society has the funds to do it. they have 5 years to get it done and they are raising money and seeking grants.
