They look good.  Nice video.

A few questions if anyone knows.

What exactly did they do for these rebuilds?

Looks like the radiator/wings are the same
Rebuilt trucks?
I have heard they have new cabs. Is this true?  Does anyone know if these new cabs are different from the old cabs from the outside exterior?
Rebuilt prime movers or new?
Are they DPU enabled?

Thanks Bruce

Don't quote me cause I haven't used on of these yet...but the cab will surely be well renovated though not much different externally...new control stand....maybe.....DP capable.... probably...in order to put in lastest equipment it would be prudent to drop on a prewired electrical cabinet and that probably did happen. I am sure the engine and generators have be rebuilt or exchanged and possibly brought up to the next higher emissions tier but that could be avoidable if certain hoops are jumped through. I am also sure the trucks have been overhauled, and I hope some sound deadening has been applied...those older AC's had heavy vibration that translated to unbearable noise

Those 4-window cabs are a good hint they are new.  That should be greatly appreciated by the crews.

If these are anything like the NS AC44C6Ms, they're even louder than they were before. Notch 5 and above means the Conductor's desk is cleared off whether they like it or not. On the plus side, if you dislike the guy on the other side of the cab, conversation is also difficult above notch 5 without yelling, so thanks PSR for keeping them in 8 all the time!

I'm surprised they didn't take the opportunity to replace the mechanical bell with an electronic one.

I have been contacted that these units do have brand new cabs and are DPU capable.  Bruce

While most of them are pretty loud & everything rattles, the ones they rebuilt at Roanoke & Altoona (waveform under the numbers,) there is an opening from under the cab, to the right & above the dookie discharge pipe that goes up in to the cab between the toilet compartment & CO desk.  That's one reason for the increased flange squeel.  The GE rebuilds have this hole closed up.  Why no one has thought to mount the engine, air compressor etc. on rubber grommets so the sounds don't vibrate throughout the entire engine remains to be seen.  They'd be awesome if they were quieter.
