QNSL In Pennsylvania
Author: Ohiorailfan

On Thursday we headed to Punxy, PA in order to see the Buffalo and Pittsburgh Ricker to Butler turn(RIBT). This train and the next days train we very well tracked on social media due to the power. Thursday's train would have WCOR SD40-2's #307, BPRR #3318, WCOR #309 and WCOR #301. The WCOR units are Ex QNSL units and still retain their paint and modifications. Seeing 3 on one train is not a common sight. The train runs between Punxy and Butler where it then turns and heads back to Ricker. We spent the day with the train capturing as much as we could. The 3 WCOR units were built as Quebec North Shore and Labrador Enjoy!

I hate to plead ignorance but please tell us all the actual name of the QNSL.  I absolutely hate abbreviations.  Thank you.  Nice photos though.

Nice set of pics.   QNSL is Quebec North Shore & Labrador.

So, what is WCOR?   Leasing company?   Or are the units owned by BP?  (part of the big orange......)

Wow, a good old fashioned train chase, thanks for posting. Great tour of the countryside and unusual power to boot. The Alleghany River bridge must be a serious budget item for a shortline.

This line was originally the BR&P Railroad (Buffalo Rochester and Pittsburgh) that was more of a regional carrier. They were absorbed into the B&O in the early 1900's.

By the way, for the OP, nice shots and as info the yard in Punxsy is R-I-K-E-R.

Well done. My favorite is the image of the train crossing the Allegheny River bridge.

Is there a Facebook group dedicated to the B&P?

....which is another GWI property operating the former NYC line south from the Corning area. To my knowledge it has very little traffic at the moment, so its power is largely operating on other nearby G&W lines.

And for what it's worth, Groundhog Town is P-U-N-X-S-U-T-A-W-N-E-Y. Yes, it's tough to spell.

I'm willing to bet there is. What's preventing you from logging on to F/B and searching for it?  Ted don't facebook, so I can't do it for you.
