Eastern Railroad Discussion > Homestead (PA) HappeningsDate: 01/11/20 19:49 Homestead (PA) Happenings Author: RuleG This afternoon, I went to the Waterfront retail complex in Homestead, Pennsylvania (just to the southeast of Pittsburgh) for shopping. I also used this opportunity for a little railfanning. As the weather was overcast, all of the photos are being posted as black and white images for greater vibrancy.
1) A narrow-guage industrial locomotive displayed in the median of a road within the complex. There were no plaques providing any information about this locomotive, nor could I find anything on line. 2) Former Pennsylvania Railroad Depot. In the foreground is Norfolk Southern's Mon Line (ex_PRR). On the other side of the depot, not visible in the photo) is CSX's former Pittsburgh & Lake Erie line Date: 01/11/20 19:56 Re: Homestead (PA) Happenings Author: RuleG 3. On the other side of Amity Street from the depot, this westbound NS train with steel coil cars was waiting. SD60E #7000 is in the lead.
4. Also in the consist was this SD40-2 which is over 42 years old! Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 01/11/20 20:08 by RuleG. Date: 01/11/20 20:07 Re: Homestead (PA) Happenings Author: RuleG 5) The action picks up with this westbound intermodal pulled by SD70IAC #1221
6) Next, the train which was waiting crosses Amity Street and passes the depot. Thanks for looking. Date: 01/11/20 22:45 Re: Homestead (PA) Happenings Author: wpamtk The unit in the first photo appears to be a 25-35 ton Porter.
