Eastern Railroad Discussion > Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern F9A 270Date: 01/12/20 16:18 Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern F9A 270 Author: sscannella Haven't seen pictures posted here of the Reading and Northern's recently acquired (from NS) F9A 270 since it's painting last week. It's been on display at their station at North Reading for the past few days. Here's the NS 4270 and later renumbered 270 working on NS in 2018 and 2019, and now RBMN 270 this afternoon. Reading and Northern is planning an all day excursion from North Reading to Pittston to showcase the 270 (and sister F7B 275) on April 18.

had been moved. Guess not. Nice shot - wonder how long it will be there? /Mitch Date: 01/12/20 22:32 Re: Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern F9A 270 Author: wabash2800 Date: 01/13/20 10:39 Re: Reading, Blue Mountain, and Northern F9A 270 Author: callum_out Those hoppers are either Herzog or Herzog built with hydraulically operated hopper doors which
allow mugh better metering of the ballast. Doors are powered buy a 12 VDC motored hydraulic unit who's batteries are charged by the solar panels. Out |
