Eastern Railroad Discussion > RBMN 270 at DuskDate: 01/12/20 20:44 RBMN 270 at Dusk Author: cr2581 Reading & Northern displayed their newest acquisition at the outer station in North Reading this weekend. Former NS F unit 270 never looked better. Many thanks to John M. Gabriel for providing the excellent lighting.

Date: 01/13/20 08:32 Re: RBMN 270 at Dusk Author: aehouse I'll be the devil's advocate here. While I applaud the RBMN for saving the F units, I think the paint scheme could have been better. Too much striping, for instance. They could have left off the lower white pinstripe and the black stripe within the white band and the look would have been far more traditional.

Craig mcmrailvideos.com Date: 01/13/20 10:19 Re: RBMN 270 at Dusk Author: steamfan759 I am just pleased that the units were saved and they will be used from time to time! I could picture them being used on some of the Christmas trains and for other special occasions.

Between that paint job, and the dumb "Aristocrat of Coal" logo he is putting on cars, I think Andy is losing his mind. Posted from Android Date: 01/14/20 13:05 Re: RBMN 270 at Dusk Author: WrongMain This is a great photo of an uninspired paint scheme. It sure isn't as nice as what it replaced, the classic Southern style. I am glad that they will be well cared for, but I wish they were wearing something more appealing. Sure, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I kind of wish that the black would have been replaced by a dark blue or something resembling their steam engine. Either way, it sure wouldn't stop me from ridng behind it or shooting it!

Date: 01/14/20 18:29 Re: RBMN 270 at Dusk Author: TamaquaTim Love the F's but I do not like the paint scheme. I would have preferred the Reading F units paint scheme but I guess Andy wanted his own idenity. I thank Andy for getting
both units A&B and cannot wait to see them heading up grade through Tamaqua. It will bring back many memories of my childhood watching trains in that great railroad town. Tim McRea |
