Last months for Mertztown Station.
Author: jim6300loco

This morning I spoke with a member of the board of directors of the Londswamp Township Historical Society who is the new owner of Mertztown Station located on the NS Reading line
in Longswamp Township, Berks county, PA. He informed me that in about 2 months the Mertztown Station will be moved to it's new home next to the Longswamp
Township Municiple building. The Station will be restored to it's former glory and it will become the museum for the Longswamp Township Historical Society.
The Station served the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad and later the Reading Railroad as a Passenger and Freight Station from 1889 until 1963. The Reading had plans to tear it down. The neighboring Chemical plant purchased it in 1963 and used it for storage of company records and maintenance equipment. Were it not for the Atlas this station would have been long gone.
So get out and take your train pictures before the move. It will be at a new home and well taken care of.

Yes, but all the fancy trim and the steeple are missing.
