Wonder if these GE's are Laid up bad order? long term storage? Rocky Mountain has a yard, was planned to be expaneded then was canceled.

Looks like the EMD T4's are going to be on CSX system wide now.

Storage maybe....sale, scrap, shopped for rebuild...who knows....but given the present management I would say storage, scrap or sale are the top three. They look like they have not had major service in a while....that usually means there's a disposition of some kind in mind.

More proof the EMD T4's work just fine. Progress rail just need a better sales department.

Hard to achieve good results when you only really have 4 large u.s. customers locked into p.s.r. ten years from now perhaps big orders but right now eveyone seems locked into rebuilding. The big thing besides initial teething issues seems to be higher fuel consumption?

Maybe proof they are getting there. These units (the CSX 8900's) have had the benefit of lessons learned.

I keep hearing “higher fuel consumption” and all sorts of things.

On my road, those things have never been mentioned. The only thing I heard, and recently, is that the injectors want quaility fuel - and that’s usually lacking on the RR.

I have seen something on one of the mtce histories for injector replacement or the like, so I’d be more inclined to say that the injectors May have needed to be redesigned to use locations that have less quaility fuels or older storage tanks with poor filtration allowing junk fuel (for this engine) to get thru.

The air compressor in this video seems to be much louder than the ones I’ve had, but the audio/mic seems to be amplified.

SD70AH:

SD = 6 axles (special duty)
70 series

This is CSX's designation, EMD designates the model SD70ACe-T4
