Eastern Railroad Discussion > Everett B32-8 earning it's keepDate: 01/22/20 18:50 Everett B32-8 earning it's keep Author: EL833 Towards the tail end of a great couple of days covering the Altoona, Pa and west slope area with Bill aka "Roadjob" I decided to check out the Everett RR in Holidaysburg. Bill had to hit the happy highway for Baltimore but I still had a couple hours to burn on this sunny day. I've kind of ignored the EV since they acquired this former NS B32-8 (D8-32B in NS lingo, former NS 3561) but made it a point to catch them today. It's been a while since I've seen one of these running. Followed them all the way down to the end of the line at the Martinsburg Jc wye and after a spot or two on the northbound run I had to break things off and roll west for Ohio. All photos taken 01-22-20.

As an example, the building to the right of 561 in photo one adds its own uniqueness to the scene.

It would be sweet to catch it out in the farm country south of Roaring Spring. Roger Durfee Akron, OH Date: 01/23/20 11:23 Re: Everett B32-8 earning it's keep Author: bigsavage EL833 Wrote:

One has just been scheduled for March 21st. Trip leaves at 1:00pm. (Everett RR.com) There are also 8-10 runs to Roaring Springs station per year, #11 gets a good workout on the 1.6% up through McKee's Gap. 2018 images by WW Jenkins Date: 01/23/20 11:32 Re: Everett B32-8 earning it's keep Author: EL833 Cool- thanks ! I've photographed (and rode) the Roaring Spring trips before but never knew they went all the way to Martinsburg Junction. Might have to check one of those trips out.

The crossing is the entranceway for the Appvion paper plant in Roaring Spring, but the photo was taken from the adjacent embankment of PA867, just south of its intersection with PA 36. It is a PRR whistle post, in the attached video from 9/2018, it is at the 00:13 mark, my vantage point and the crossing are also here. You must be a registered subscriber to watch videos.
