CSX Pride in Service Locomotives - what's the latest ?
Author: cr2581

Last I heard, they were stored in Waycross after recieveing PTC updates when they returned from the museum at Northeast, PA.  Anyone know for how long ?  Will they run again soon ???  Any insight would be appreciated.

Still sitting in Waycross behind the Service Center.  Word is the VP-OPS doesn't like them and ordered them stored.  Meanwhile they are frequently short of power in Waycross.

Apparently he has no pride in the company.

I believe the OP is referring to the Honoring the First Responders, Police, and Veterans units. They are CSX's first and probalbly only fully painted units and looked really good.  If they are indeed stored, then what a waste of money and time that was.  You can go to Heritage units.com and scroll down to the CSX Spirit Locomotives if you want to see them.

Boom Boom Boychuk.  First responders must have been mean to him when he caused a fiery wreck in Canada:

How could someone at CSX not like those units? The one painted for the police is awesome! And all three are great rolling billboards not just for the company but for the service they honor. I had been wondering where they were because the sightings on Facebook stopped short a while ago. If his is true, that dude needs to get a grip

I was chasing them on the Bow Line when they were new and I stopped at a road crossing to photograph them.  A couple pulled up (non-railfans) and the woman took out her phone to get a pic of 1776.  We got to talking and she mentioned she was a Navy veteran (she saw my USMC hat) and commented on how nice it was for CSX to honor the military with this engine.  It was great PR and a positive image that only CSX management could screw up!!!
