Pan Am at East Deerfield, Mass
Author: briancdn

I dropped by the ex B&M yard at East Deerfield on my way north from the Amherst train show, and was surprised to see the amount of power laying around the servicing facility. It's been years since I've been here, and I'm not up to date with current Pan Am operations. Obviously they are running more trains out of here than I thought.

There was also an NS power set in the yard, and more units by the old diesel shop.

So how many trains does the Pan Am run out of Deerfield on a daily basis?

I've always been a fan of standard cab GE's and was quite happy to get this pair today!

I used to railfan East Deerfield in the 70's, B&M Minuteman and McGuiness paint schemes.  Now it's Pan Am's rag tag locomotives. LOL

Thanks for posting from an old stomping ground!

The Guilford / Pan Am RR has got to be the most raggedey, trashy, ghetto, "couldn't care less about our image" RR operation I've ever seen.  I feel bad for the crews.  Seriously, what's up with the management???!!
