New York, Susquehanna & Western No. 3040 created a bit of chaos this afternoon as it led its eight-car train northbound on Utica NY's Schuyler Street.

Not quite the Maeklong Railway in Thailand, but pretty entertaining!

Always nice to see street running and a real local with carload freight.   Never saw the hycube box cars and the andersons (AEX)  older covered hoppers on this train before.
Who are the consignees for these cars?

I.Q. seems below the national average in Utica.

I agree 100% and I thoroughly enjoy the street operation and I'm so glad to see so many freight cars for customers.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching that! The gene pool seems a little shallow there in the next block, like it’s more of a puddle.

Always enjoys your street running video as you never know what going to happen next.  But I think the town would paint a 13' width of right of way with a grid pattern like railroad ties and clearance line down the entire railroad right of way.
Bet you have fun viewing those trains.  Have they run all the way over the line to Binghamton?

Always interesting. If you posted a Schuyler Street video every day, I believe I'd watch (and enjoy) each one.

Can be confusing to have a green traffic light with flashing RR crossing lights. Perhaps it should be a flashing red as well.

Not really, the traffic light is holding cross traffic. A flashing red would allow cross traffic into the intersection with a potential for a slow speed right turn fender bender or a dented door on cross traffic. The green allows for right turns to get clear, if necessary. The cross traffic never sees a green once the crossing activates. I always liked street running. My grandparents lived in Erei PA and the PRR ran down the middle of the street with a couple of trains each way per day. Loved watching them while there with my parents on vacation.

Oneida Warehouse in New Hartford receives the boxcars and the older hoppers came back from the two big mills in Sangerfield.

Sign reading "Slow Children At Play" pretty much sums up the drivers, crew must get tired of that after a while,
again, great video.

That was kewl. Made my day. Haven't seen some good street running in a while.
The clown cars show was bonus.

My point was have a circuit for when crossing signals are activated, parallel traffic gets flashing red / cross traffic gets solid red.

Green lights work well in Michigan City on their street trackage.

The SouthShore freights and NICTD passenger trains trigger lights at three intersections to change to green for the track and red for the cross streets. Westbound trains stop short of the first signal for a passenger station. When they are ready to proceed they roll forward into an activation circuit, the lights change to Green and the train moves on. Eastbound trains trigger the lights far enough back that trains do not have to slow or stop. Michigan City has a better street layout. People don't park on 11th St close enough to the rail that they can't get out of their cars when a train is present. The 10th St segment has parked cars closer to the track, but still more space than Schuyler St in the video.

I would not recommend flashing red for the train direction. Cars would stop and wait for vehicles waiting for the solid red light on the cross street. Flashing yellow might work, but Green works fine. Let the traffic flow with the train.
