Eastern Railroad Discussion > Sunday SD40-2 SurprisesDate: 02/09/20 16:54 Sunday SD40-2 Surprises Author: RuleG This Sunday morning, I went to a location along the Norfolk Southern Pittsburgh about a mile east of the Amtrak station to see the Nickel Plate heritage unit on 67J. Prior to that train passing through, a westbound local with SD40-2 3394 came by.
In the afternoon, I went for a walk on the South Side Trail. Much of the trail follows CSX's former Pittsburgh & Lake Erie RR line. The second photo shows Buffalo & Pittsburgh 3342 leading an emply train of coal hoppers after crossing 18th Street in Pittsburgh's South Side. The Buffalo & Pittsburgh designates 3342 as an SD40-3, but it began life as a Canadian National SD40-2. |
