Eastern Railroad Discussion > What is latest on NS testing CNGDate: 02/09/20 17:04 What is latest on NS testing CNG Author: mully Last fall it was reported NS would be testing I believe CNG on coal trains between Williamson and Norfolk. Does anyone know if this has started?

Maybe not but probably so??

I thought they were going to lease BNSF units ? You are correct, NS agreed to lease the SD70ACe Fuel Tender set from BNSF, prior to making any sort of decision on purchase or production. I too am wondering if this is still going to occur. GE has at least one LNG adapted locomotive, GECX 3000, in their lease fleet.

I had this same thought. The shale deposits of northern PA are smack in the middle of NS territory. It would seem to be a cheep source of natural gas to me. Dan Posted from iPhone |
