Finally some snow, well not that much but ..... 09 February 2020
Author: DTWilson

Friday night a line of snow squalls moved thru our area coating everything that was cold enough for the snow to stick to.

The next morning we headed out to capture a few images with the snow.

1) Approaching the west end of the east yard at Keyser, WV the snow coated trees framed the B772 power waiting at the yard office.
Photo shot by 8yr old. Grayson Wilson with his Ipad.

2) Q316-07 making their pick up off the freight track at Keyser.

3) Another scene of 316 and the B772 power at Keyser, WV. The boxcars to the right are tonnage reduction cars that Q317 set out the night before that B772 will take to Grafton later in the day.

1) Still at Keyser.... not sure what this guy's story was. Both sides of the cab looked like he lost a snowball battle...

2) Now in Cumberland, MD we catch Amtrak train #30 as they arrive in town.

3) P030-09 departing Cumberland eastbound at the VA signal.

1) Q316-07 arriving in Cumberland, MD eastbound on the "Single Main". Photo taken from recently repaired bridge that was closed after a set of double stacks struck the three bridges over the single main.

2) Gives you some idea how close the clearance is. The other two bridges are still closed while the City & CSX work out a solution to repair or replace them.

3) Q316-07 at the VA Ave. Signal.

1) Wheel Car in the mix at the VA Ave signal.

By lunch time, the temperature had risen, the clouds were moving out and the snow was gone.

2) D920-09 with a pair of SD40-3's heading east passing the Q217 at North Branch outside of Cumberland, MD

That's all we got, Thanks for stopping by!

The "boy" gets his first byline! Congratulations, Grayson.
We have no one left to visit from Cumberland anymore, so I follow your adventures to get an update on new goings on. My wife was from a railroad family, so there was a lot of rail fanning and b.s.ing shared.
Granddad was a pipe fitter in the steam shop, her dad's 4 brothers were railroader and the rest of the shirt tail relatives worked in the offices. Saturday morning meant a roundtable at Bob Evans, and I have been at CP Roy more than once while navigating the systems around the area.
Thanks for posting
Tom

Thank You Tom, I forgot to byline his photo.  He shot the first one of the units framed by snow at Keyser...
