NS bridge out Spartanburg - Columbia
Author: 1019X

"Trains" Newswire is reporting that there is a bridge out on NS between Spartanburg and Columbia, SC. Estimate is a week to repair. It has just been with the last year or two that a major bridge over the Broad River on that line was washed out.

The last time a bridge went out on the W line was 2015.

Detours have been up and running since Friday, initially due to the derailment of 238 near Columbia early Friday afternoon (3 engines, 8 cars). Probably cause was downed trees (nasty weather Thursday night/Friday morning).
Trains on the Piedmont go to Charlotte Jct, get on the R line to Columbia, and then SC line to Charleston. Six trains per day to detour. Stacks 20D, 21D, 237, and 238. BMW racks 27T and 28T.
