Eastern Railroad Discussion > IC SD70s and the Decatur & Eastern Illinois on SundayDate: 02/25/20 04:55 IC SD70s and the Decatur & Eastern Illinois on Sunday Author: jtar463 My friend Paul and I went out Sunday for the first time in several months. We chased CN train A407 north from Effingham, IL to Mattoon and Tuscola. Heading west out of Tuscola, IL we found a DREI crew that had just left a grain train at the loop at the big Cargil elevator west of town. They were just boarding a train parked at Ficklin, the industrial area about 2 miles west of Tuscola. They did some switching and then headed west towards Decatur. Below: With the sun behind it, CN train A407 heads north through Neoga, IL. The other 2 were taken at the crossing at Ficklin, IL of the DREI and 2 of their SD40-2s in SD45 carbodies.

The Nickel Plate's clover leaf route to St Louis would have crossed the IC at grade about 30 carlengths south from where you captured your image. Good shot of the '95 order unit on the point.
