NJ Transit PTC Train
Author: overniteman

New Jersey Transit's "PTC Test Train" speeds South along the Northeast Corridor at Edison, New Jersey at 12:47 PM today.

It's led by NJT ALP-46 4645, 4 cars and then the Erie Lackawanna heritage ALP-45DP 4519 trails.

So far it's made trips from Morrisville, Pennsylvania North up to Newark with the E-L unit leading and then reverses and heads back.

The train has been laying over in Morrisville on the weekends.

Very nice!  Why isn't the color band and striping parallel on the Lackawanna heritage unit?

I think it is wrap, which is why they leave a black area as it is too tedious to wrap over vents.

So,,,,,,,the "wrap" is sagging?

Definitely lipstick on a pig - those ALP45s are just downright ugly!  Cool (if a bit saggy) wrap though...

Very cool catch!  How is parking around the Edison station during the week?  I have seen the photos you shared here and was curious.  Was thinking about doing some photos there.

There's a ton of parking and It's mostly permit. Forget the lot in front of the station, it's always full M-F. Weekends, there are spots.

There's a pay lot on other side of the station that abuts the Eastbound platform. Usually has open spots. Not good this time of year for photos, gets no sun.

I pull in and go up to the Westbound building and hang a hard left. There's a long skinny lot that follows the tracks and is permit only.
On weekends it's totally empty, skies the limit. Park near the steps and walk up, sun's perfect now for Westbounds, all day.

During the week, I still park there with no permit. There's a grey haired lady who patrols the lot occasionally on foot. She's cool if you tell her you're there for the trains and I hold up my camera.

There were days with the Coke unit where 6 of us were double parked, lol. It as actually fun.

Here's the first ACS-64 heading West, It's labeled David L. Gunn in between the headlights who was an Amtrak president.

Thanks for that info.  I was there a few times last summer, but only on the weekends.
