Dirty Thirty Thursday (CYXX)

With a "few" soot stains on her, Conrad Yelvington (CYXX) GP30 #2111 sits in Wildwood, Florida on 02-11-20. This unit started life as C&O 3029, a unit I saw through my hometown of Akron, Ohio a few times.

Is this unit still run? When? I will be in Florida (Wildwood) on my annual trip to see my Dad. Will be there a week, leaving on Amtrak on April 4th.

Yes, it runs. It replaced an Alco switcher (which was stuffed way down the tail track). This was a mid morning shot.

Looks like it would do better with an NS black paint job.

...I'd go for it back in C&O blue with the yellow nose :)

I recently moved to Ocala FL from E. Kingston NH, where I was one house away from the PanAm Ayer MA to Portland ME line and thoroughly enjoyed the many trains thru E. Kingston.
Here in Ocala, I'm a couple of miles from the CSX tracks. There is a small yard here and an interchange with the Florida Northern shortline.
While driving thru Florida a few miles south of Ocala, I passed thru Wildwood and was really happy to realize there is a CSX yard in Wildwood that is much larger and more active than the yard in Ocala.
Also there is an interchange with the Conrad, Yelvington Distributors aggregate operation.
There are two locomotives there, one was parked way down the tracks and looked like a switcher, not sure what model.
The closer locomitive is pictured here.
Looks like it is still throwing oil but it looks better than it does above.
Thanks for looking!
