Many times on CSX pictures with signals in them, I see "3 head" signals in various configurations and wonder the use of this.  Take this one 3, 2, 3 signals.  I know what all red or, green over  red flashing or not means and red  over  flashing or not yellow means .  But what   do other combinations mean?

You just don't see that much on western railroads.

https://signals.jovet.net/rules/CSX%20Signal%20Rules.pdf although I cannot vouch that it's 100% accurate.
